AWARDS & NOMINATIONS

Each year, the MSPA Board of Directors presents the awards and certificates to honor individuals or groups who have engaged in efforts aligned with MSPA's vision, mission, and priorities.

Eligibility criteria and submission information for each award is described below. Anyone is invited to submit a nomination, whether you are a MSPA member or not. The Board of Directors reviews each nomination and awards recipients at our Annual Spring Conference.

School Psychologist of the Year
This award recognizes an outstanding school psychologist in our state who exemplifies professional responsibility, growth and leadership.

Trainer of the Year
The Trainer of the Year Award recognizes an Massachusetts university educator in a School Psychology Training program who exemplifies excellent mentorship and thought and impactful instruction. We encourage both university students and colleagues to submit joint applications for one nominee.

Legislator of the Year
The MSPA Legislator of the Year Award is given to individuals or groups who have worked to make systemic changes in policies that govern the provision of education and mental health services at the state or local level. In addition, these individuals or groups have worked to support the MSPA mission and its goals. Individual nominees or groups have so distinguished themselves by this service that clear evidence of improvement of education and services for children can be readily documented. Nominees can include individuals or groups outside the profession, as well as those affiliated with school psychology.

Friend of Children
The Friend of Children Award honors individuals or groups outside the School Psychology profession within Massachusetts who have initiated political action or advocacy on behalf of children to improve education and mental health services for children, youth, and families by supporting the work of our Association. We encourage each of our members to consider honoring a colleague in this way.

Lifetime Achievement Award
The MSPA Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an outstanding school psychologist who has had a statewide impact on the field and has dedicated his/her professional life to the development and improvement of school psychology.
